Training educators in the basics of psychological support

In the winter and autumn of 2023, GoGlobal trainers conducted two waves of cascade trainings for teachers and psychologists from Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions called «Mental Health Responsive School».

This program is unique in the multistage approach: after being prepared by expert trainers, school psychologists and teachers in pairs can train their colleagues. This allows covering entire school communities. The additional value here is that the program covers primarily educators from the frontline and border regions.

Therefore, the project achieved success: 60 educators, who trained and received the trainer certificates, taught basic psychological help and self-care, and skills to percept stress to more than 2,000 of their colleagues, and they passed on the relevant skills to the children. The project covers more than 40,000 schoolchildren.

The program will be scaled-up and prolonged in 2024.

Within the course of this program, the importance of the manual for teachers and school psychologists called «Mental Health Responsive School» cannot be overrated. This manual has become an important guide for professionals who got engaged in the implementation of a trauma-informed approach in the school environment. The guide is not only informative but also beautifully designed and accessible in presenting the material. Its structure helps teachers and psychologists to easily accumulate and implement in practice all the acquired knowledge.
