600 students from 24 schools located near the line of conflict in the Donbas will take part in GoCamp East — an innovative summer language camp which will be held near Kyiv during July and August. The official opening ceremony will take place at 11.00 on July 27 at the Child’s Health Centre “Dnipro” (214B Solovianenko, Kozyn village, Obuhiv district, Kyiv region).

Foreign volunteers from 18 countries will work hand in hand with Ukrainian teachers from 24 schools in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, teaching English, critical thinking, tolerance, the basics of civic education and healthy lifestyles to the children. Joining the 600 students from these 24 schools will be 600 students from other parts of Ukraine, encouraging interaction, understanding and integration.
Other volunteers, including foreign ambassadors, representatives of international organizations, leaders of public opinion, popular Ukrainian TV hosts and musicians, will attend GoCamp East contributing their time, insights and enthusiasm.
GoCamp East is initiated by the Global Office NGO and supported by the British Council in Ukraine, as well as the charitable group the Ukrainian Community within the EBRD. The GoCamp East summer camp, for children from the war-affected zone of Ukraine, is a continuation of the nationwide summer camp project, GoCamp, which was held in schools all over Ukraine during June 2017.
The main features of the GoCamp format are modern interactive language teaching methodology, four learning strands (Leadership and Career, Civic Education, Sport and Health and STEAM), as well as the involvement of carefully-selected foreign volunteers who work with the children at the camps.
